My Business Philosophy

As a Monterey locksmith, I believe in creating business relationships built on integrity. If I couldn't run a business that way, I wouldn't do it.

While apprenticing for three years under two older Monterey locksmiths, I paid attention not only to each man's ideas on how to do the actual work, but also to what went well or didn't on the business side of things.

One of my key lessons from this was to provide only the best quality materials to my customers. Much of the time this goes unseen with the customer such as with the little pins I use in re-keying and master systems. Instead of cheap knock of pins, I use the manufacturer's originals. I end up with a smaller profit margin than some of the other locksmiths but I know that my clients locks will continue to function properly for much longer than if I used cheap materials.

Also, I am honest with my customers. One way to run a business is to up sell everything regardless of need. I believe in running my company by maintaining honest relations with my customers. Often this means telling them they may not have to spend as much as they thought.
